Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need a developmental edit or a copyedit?

Developmental edits will focus on the heart of the story. I suggest these edits for manuscripts that have only had your eyes on them, or only been through one or no rounds of editing. These edits focus on what leaps off the page for the reader, setting, characters, narrative, structure, the things that make the book a book.

Copyedits focus more on maintaining consistency in style throughout a work. They work to ensure the proper application of grammar, syntax, and spelling while also adhering to a style guide. I recommend this type of editing for books that have already had a few rounds of developmental editing, or any type of business project or marketing copy.
